The area under the present day state of Tamil Nadu has been part of different territorial configurations under Madras Presidency and Madras State in the history.

The Madras Presidency, headquartered in Fort St. George, was a province of British India that comprised present day Tamil Nadu, the Malabar region of North Kerala, the coastal and Rayalaseema regions of Andhra Pradesh, and the Bellary, Dakshina Kannada, and Udupi districts of Karnataka. It was established in 1653 to be the headquarters of the English settlements on the Coromandel Coast.

The first legislature was formed in 1920 after general elections. The term of the legislative council was three years. It had 132 members of whom 34 were nominated by the Governor and the rest were elected.

ICC T20 World Cup Cricket 2016 - Team Squads Announced !!!

World cup cricket is considered as one the biggest events in the history of cricket.

The 2016 ICC World Twenty20 cricket will be the sixth ICC World Twenty20 cricket tournament and is scheduled to be held in India from 8 March to 3 April.

All Teams announced their team squads for the world T20 cricket 2016 tournament.

India announced their 15-member squads for the World Cup T20 and Asia Cup on 5/2/2016 (Friday) naming MS Dhoni as the captain.

Vijay's 'Theri' teaser receives record views on Youtube

The teaser of Ilayathalapathy Vijay's 'Theri', directed by Atlee and produced by S Thanu, is out. Vijay is said to be playing a cop in the film and the poster reflects his character's tough-as-nails attitude. Produced by Kalaipuli Thanu, the film has two lead female roles- Amy Jackson and Samantha. The 50 second teaser has Vijay in different avatars and beating up the baddies. He is also seen to be bonding with a small girl in portions of the teaser.

The first teaser of Vijay's "Theri" managed to win the hearts of the audience and celebrities. Its already heading towards making record by receiving maximum views on youtube.

Actress Meena's daughter will be making her debut in this film, while veteran director Mahendran is making his comeback as a villain in this project. GV Prakash is scoring the music of the film and George C Williams handles the camera.
